FEATURED INTEGRATOR: Southeastern Security Professionals
How long has SSP been in business?
SSP was founded in 2003. We currently are based outside of Atlanta, GA and provide design, installation, and services in the southeastern area of the USA.
To date, what has been the most unique job that SSP has been apart of?We completed a systems upgrade for a national client that included upgrading all their Access Control, Video Surveillance, Intrusion Detection and Fire Alarm systems to consistent platforms. This customer's environment was harsh and required installation technicians competent in industrial environments.
SSP’s physical footprint is limited to the southeast and we needed installation partners to extend our reach nationally. Through the PSA network we were able to find competent installation partners to complete these upgrades successfully. Through these opportunities we created partnerships and provided installations in the southeast for these partners who didn’t have physical footprint there.
What are some of the markets SSP is involved in?We recently completed a systems upgrade for a multi-site service organization. Typical to these companies they had a lot of small (1-5 readers, 1-5 cameras) disparate systems that were not centrally managed. We upgraded the systems to cloud based integrated systems that allowed the customer to easily manage the system centrally and still allowing each site to locally monitor activity and perform investigations as needed.
What are some of the biggest challenges that integrators are facing? The biggest challenge we see in multi-site service applications, where the customers typically have a lot of smaller sites, is when integrators try to deploy traditional client server systems. These are the applications where cloud makes the most sense. Cloud systems we work with provides the most enterprise features included unlimited site segmenting, card holders, admin users all while providing clients with the ability to connect from anywhere and administrate the system with any device.
In addition to multi-site services, what other types of clients do you have?We have customers in all verticals with a focus in Corporate Services/ Real Estate, Manufacturing, Education and Local Government.
What makes SSP stand out in the physical security industry?SSP’s expansive list of capabilities offers the flexibility of a small company with resources of a large company. Our integrated solutions include video surveillance, intrusion, access control, alarm event monitoring, fire detection, and cloud technologies customized to meet the unique needs of the customer. These capabilities, however, are paired with a high attention to customer service, so each client feels like they are the only client.
What qualities will a successful security integration company have?Succeeding as a security integrator can be a challenge without the right skillset or resources. We have found that success comes with a strong service focus, a highly technically competent team, access to the latest technology, and the ability to stay resourceful.
What is your advice to individuals who are looking to build a career in security systems integration? You will have greater success if technology interest you. Also, it is a small industry so protect your reputation by doing what say you will.
