Leadership Lesson: Avoid Negative Energy

May 26, 2016

In order to be a more effective leader, you must think, inspire, energize, connect, and act like a leader. Here is a quick tip to help escalate your success as a leader by avoiding negative energy:

Avoid Negative Energy

Successful leaders live life with a positive attitude and energy. We all encounter unfortunate situations, however not everyone sees the positive aspect or learning curve of the situation. Successful leaders see the positive or learning aspect of the unfortunate or unforeseen situation. Effective leaders do not welcome those who do not support them, who use them, who have negative attitudes, who try to knock them down, and who are resentful of them. The world is full of negative people and negative energy and those negative people feed off the energy of others. Negative people and negative energy limit you. Focus on the positive and the things you enjoy in life. Surround yourself with positive people and positive situations and you will become more positive.

Your attitude, not your aptitude, will determine your altitude.

Try This

When you encounter a negative person, try to praise that person for something positive. One thing to consider is that negative people are not only negative to others; they are also most likely negative to themselves. Unfortunately, these people live in negativity all of the time. Try to find something positive about that person and recognize them or praise them for it. Plant a positive seed in this person and you may see some positive thinking begin to grow.
