Meet Alaina Meyer: PSA’s Newest Board Member Championing Small Business and Innovation
PSA is proud to welcome Alaina Meyer, founder, co-owner and president of scDataCom, to the PSA Board of Directors. Alaina brings with her a decade of experience in federal contracting, a fresh perspective on innovation in security and a passion for amplifying the voices of small to mid-sized businesses.
Alaina’s appointment to the PSA Board of Directors was sparked by a professional connection. Christine Lanning, a fellow woman-owned integrator and PSA board member, reached out to encourage Alaina to join.
“I was honored,” said Alaina. “If there’s a chance to make an impact outside of my own bubble at scDataCom, I’m all in, and if I get to work closely with Christine, that’s a bonus.”
One of Alaina’s biggest goals as a board member is to represent the interests of small to mid-sized companies, which is a large part of PSA’s membership base. As PSA continues to grow and attract larger organizations, Alaina wants to ensure that the challenges and opportunities of smaller firms stay front and center.
A strong believer in PSA’s mission to elevate the industries it serves by providing members exceptional education, networking, services and connections with technology partners, Alaina values PSA’s collective purchasing power and its proactive approach to building strong relationships in the industry.
“PSA makes all of us stronger, together,” said Alaina. “If I see a problem affecting our community, I know PSA will work to solve it and solve it well.”
That same belief in collaboration and accountability is central to Alaina’s leadership philosophy. Integrity, honesty and accountability are key themes in scDataCom’s core values that guide her decision making and the culture she works to build.
“One of our values, Own Your Impact, stands out,” said Alaina. “It’s about taking full responsibility for your actions and understanding that your behavior can have a ripple effect on those around you. I try to bring my best self in every interaction.”
Looking ahead, Alaina sees several major trends shaping the future of the security industry. Most notably, a customer education gap as technologies like AI and advanced system integrations evolve rapidly.
“Helping clients understand the full scope of what’s possible, and how to get the most value from what they spend, is going to take time and face-to-face effort,” said Alaina.
She also predicts continued supply chain volatility stemming from tariffs and global disruptions, making collective resilience and advocacy through organizations like PSA even more vital.
By fostering collaboration and providing valuable resources, PSA enables owners like Alaina to navigate industry shifts and drive innovation with confidence.
“To anyone considering a career in security, just do it,” said Alaina. “It’s a great industry with endless possibilities.”
