PSA TEC – What is your experience?!
PSA TEC is around the corner, everyone has made their travel plans, and the excitement is building.
As in previous years, the agenda and educational blocks are chock full of great sessions and educational adventures. The committee and breakout sessions will be eye opening again this year and promise more information and interaction. I wanted to add a perspective to the event as a member and owner of PSA that I don’t think many relish or see until after they depart. I want to call out the socialization and interaction that occurs at PSA TEC. As an IPEG member, our IPEG group meets at PSA TEC each year and I can’t wait for the half day meeting with my working peers. I am happy to say each and every one of my IPEG group members have become true life friends.
TEC is smaller, yes, and full of some of the big manufacturers and premier sponsors, but you get face-to-face interactions and time for discussions that you just cannot get at other industry events.
With this said and looking beyond my IPEG group, I want you to realize and grab the comradery that occurs each year at TEC. Sure we all go to ISC West and ASIS and pass in the halls with nods and waves to other business owners, competitors and manufacturers but can you get the up close one on one and interaction that you feel and see at PSA TEC? TEC is smaller, yes, and full of some of the big manufacturers and premier sponsors, but you get face-to-face interactions and time for discussions that you just cannot get at other industry events.
So challenge yourself to take the time to go to the committee events, sit next to a person you mildly know and even strike up that conversation. Next, smile and stop a business owner or manufacturer in the hallway at the Westin and admire their business or article that they were featured in and you liked. Take the time to meet other owners and similar companies to yours and feel the life and heartbeat of this truly interactive security event. I think we can all take that extra time to grow our network of business relationships and who knows what can and will happen. I know you will come away with a sense of belonging and community like you haven’t felt prior. Oh and one last suggestion, don’t forget to hang, hug or have a drink with the PSA team that make this happen each year.
I know I am super excited to attend PSA TEC 2016.
Safe travels and see you soon!
